Bogong Moth ~ Connecting the tribes

The Bogong Moth Moth can be seen in a lot of parts of NSW, QLD and ACT, it is especially recognised as one of the totems for some of the Aboriginal people that belong to the Ngunawal tribe in Canberra, which has a common language to the Wiradjuri tribal area where I am from which makes up part of the Central West of NSW. The Bogong Moth is a rather dull looking coloured moth so in this painting I have exaggerated the colour and wings to give it a better appearance.
Animals, Floura and Fauna are highly significance in Aboriginal Culture and hold many meanings and stories that connect us to the time of creation and learnings that can provide the tribe with certain levels of understanding about their responsibilities. This makes up part of the culture and learning for generations to come, it is important for everyone to know this so that the spirit of creation, learning and culture can be kept alive through the people and love from those that care the most. But also so that the learning is there and respected.
It is wonderful to be part of such a vast, sacred knowledge from the oldest living culture in the world. I am proud of my Aboriginal heritage and roots, it makes me strong and keeps me connected to the things in the world that really matter that make all the difference. Especially is a world that grows each year full of greed.
