When I was a little girl I went through a lot of horrendous experiences and then a miracle accoured which was carried on a message of a flower which I saw come back to life after being dead right in front of my very eyes.It was a magical experience and one I almost forgot until I got older and began to remember again. Tawny Frogmouth sitting in a Tree.Trees holds special and sacred significance to the area I'm from in Wiradjuri country in relation to culture, which marked sacred sites, which were used for shelter and cover from the elements, everyday tools and also for a means to communicate and much more.The earliest fossil evidence of Tawny Frogmouths are from the Tertiary Period from 56-33.9 Million Years ago.Although related to the Owl, the Tawny Frogmouth is not an Owl but more closely related to Nightjars. They are often mistaken as Owls, they are similar looking but not the same.Differences between the Owl & Tawny Frogmouth:
Tawny Frogmouths have weak feet, Owls have strong, tough & flexible feet.
Tawny Frogmouths have eyes on the side of their face, Owls have them on the front of their face.

This book is a tribute to my Great Great Grandmother who has been an inspiration in my life, although we never got to meet, she stood proud on her own country and did not leave like many around her did, she was well-known to everyone who knew her and I feel deeply connected to her and her dreaming of the Brolga. She teaches me many lessons that today have been very helpful to me.
Mirree is a Contemporary Aboriginal Artist from Wiradjuri country in NSW Australia. She won the "Teacher of the Year" award in 2009 for her work teaching at the Canberra Institute of Technology at the Aboriginal Centre teaching cultural Art to students from the ages of 15-55, making the students feel that sense of belonging through their Art.
