A lot unfortunately do not survive due to this. Fortunately I have seen one in it's natural habitat swimming around, this painting captures that memory and movement in it's habitat swimming in the water freely. Although Mirree has used flowers such as the lotus before in her paintings previously, such as Brolga, the lotuses in the water animal paintings represents universal connection and unity.
