'Australian Bush Bilby' NEW PAINTING
The Bilby is originally from the NSW area and is believed to have their main population here roughly 80 years ago. Next to none have survived this area, but I believe otherwise. Most of them that are left in the wild are believed to be in the NT and Central Australia areas.
March to May is their breeding times so Easter marks the beginning of their breeding season where you will find them at night time foraging for food such as bulbs, seeds, fruits, termites and fungi. Sand is also part of their diet and they to not reply on water they get all the moisture they need from their diet.
They are masterful diggers as they have underground systems that enable them to hide from certain predators and to keep them cool during the day time hours, as they are nocturnal hunters.
